How does Eko-Okna support the municipality of Pietrowice Wielkie and its residents?

investments

The rapid growth of Eko-Okna has an impact on the local community. Many residents of Pietrowice Wielkie see the positives of this situation, while others point to the difficulties of being adjacent to such a large plant. Mateusz Kłosek, President of the Management Board of Eko-Okna, talks about corporate social responsibility.

How does the company try to support the residents and municipality in solving social issues while nurturing lasting cooperation?

Locally, it is difficult not to notice the daily activity of our company: large halls, night lighting, increased traffic on the roads, which is particularly troublesome during the commuting hours of employees to and from work, as well as the large number of trucks moving in the area. All this, of course, can hurt the residents’ sense of comfort.

Being aware of this, we try, as far as possible, to implement an active form of social responsibility towards the local community. The direction of our support is best shown in three areas: social, financial and material.

Which one is the most important?

First of all, our company offers the opportunity to work near home. This allows locals to support their families and have more time for their loved ones. They don't have to emigrate for bread outside our region or abroad. In total, almost 13,000 people work at Eko-Okna. From the Pietrowice Wielkie municipality, we employ as many as 460 workers. In addition, in recent years, we have supported the purchase of two new fire trucks for the local fire department. Every year, we are involved in the organisation of municipal events. We support numerous initiatives by various community groups, allocating a portion of our funds for this purpose. Furthermore, we funded the lighting of a bike path through the nearby forest.

Eko-Okna S.A. is the largest taxpayer in the region. How much does it contribute to the municipal budget?

Through taxes paid regularly to the municipality's account, Eko-Okna supports all its residents. In 2023 alone, the taxes paid - on real estate, transportation and the corporate income tax - to the municipality budget of Pietrowice Wielkie will amount to 13 million zlotys. In 2022, it was more than 10 million zlotys. Decisions on how to spend the money and how to use it to the residents' benefit lie within the authority of the Municipal Council.

Eko-Okna operations generate increased traffic of cars and lorries near the plant. Does the company support the renovation of local roads?

We are aware that our employees need to get to work and that the windows they produce require timely deliveries. That’s why we feel obliged – as a company- to care for the technical condition of the roads we often use. We actively supported the process of obtaining funds to finance comprehensive repairs of the road network in the municipality. Together with the Racibórz county and the Pietrowice Wielkie municipality, we managed to obtain funds for repairs on many roads: Pietrowice Wielkie – Lekartów (PLN 15 million), Pietrowice Wielkie – Pawłów, Tłustomosty – Maków – Pawłów and Pawłów – Modzurów (a total of PLN 49 million). Eko-Okna contributed more than PLN 2.5 million, allowing these works to be completed. Beyond that, the plans regarding the road survey for the bypass route to National Road 45 are being drawn.

The company is rapidly growing, and as a result, so does its impact on the local community.

I hope that our activities and the funds we provide yearly allow the community to notice the positive picture of Eko-Okna S.A.’s existence in the municipality of Pietrowice Wielkie. I also hope that in the future, further tax payments and various support from us will continue to bring measurable benefits and, above all, will be noticed and appreciated by every inhabitant of the region.
